Short answer: n8n Cloud starts at $20/month (Starter plan, billed annually, 2,500 executions a month) and runs the server for you. Self-hosting Community Edition is free: you pay only for the VPS (prices in USD), but you take on backups, updates and security.
Prices come from the n8n pricing page, checked on October 15, 2026. The page shows prices in the visitor’s local currency, chosen by location, and has no currency selector. The dollar amounts here are the ones it showed to visitors in the US. Check the final amount at checkout before you subscribe.
What Cloud offers
| Plan | Annual (per month) | Monthly | Executions/month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $20 | $24 | 2,500 |
| Pro | $50 | $60 | 10,000 |
| Enterprise | contact sales | contact sales | custom |
- Starter: 1 shared project, 5 concurrent executions, forum support.
- Pro: 3 shared projects, up to 50 concurrent executions, workflow history and admin roles.
- Enterprise: 200+ concurrent executions, dedicated support with an SLA, log streaming and extended data retention. According to the page, it can be hosted by n8n or self-hosted.
Pro and Business have an execution selector on the pricing page for larger volumes. Billing is per complete workflow execution, not per step, and every plan includes unlimited users and workflows.
The pricing page marks the Business plan ($800/month billed annually, $960 billed monthly, 40,000 executions) as “Self-hosted only”: you run n8n on your own VPS with a paid licence, with SSO and LDAP, multiple environments and Git version control. A link next to it joins a waitlist for a Business plan hosted by n8n.
What self-hosting offers
- Community Edition is free and lives on GitHub. You pay only for the server (price table in USD).
- n8n sets no execution limit on it. Your hardware is the limit.
- Features from Business and Enterprise, such as SSO, multiple environments and Git version control, need a paid licence even when self-hosted. On queue mode, n8n’s sources don’t agree: the docs page “Compare editions” lists it as included in Community Edition (only multi-main is paid), while the pricing page lists it among the Business features. Check the licence terms before you rely on it (see n8n in queue mode with Redis).
- You handle backups, updates and security. n8n has published many security advisories recently (live list), and Cloud users get the fixes without having to act.
How to decide
- Choose Cloud if you do not want to run a server, need something working today and fit within the Starter or Pro limits.
- Choose self-hosting (see the Docker Compose installation guide) if you are comfortable with Linux and Docker, run a lot of executions, need your data on your own server, or want to run other services on the same VPS.
- If the question is server size, see the n8n RAM and CPU requirements.
To estimate the VPS size, use the calculator. To look at the hosted option, see n8n Cloud ↗.
